Jim Parsons - author, manuscript editor and writing mentor
![]() | Since retiring from TAFE NSW in 2004, I've kept myself busy. First there was Beetle Creek, and the excitement of publishing and promoting a book that has won so many hearts. Now I am engrossed in conducting a novel writing course by email and have the pleasure of mentoring and critiquing new writers. I also edit manuscripts and academic articles. Of course, I can't stop writing: my current work-in-progress is called Aunt Harriet's Legacy. It's a completely different genre from Beetle Creek, so people who bought Beetle Creek and expect more of the same would be disappointed, I think. However, it's shaping up nicely into an historical family saga. |
Beetle Creek - the first heady year
I had an amazing book tour and was invited to do library readings in various library systems in NSW and Queensland - here's the report from Coffs Harbour Library. I was also proud to be invited to be guest author at the Goondiwindi District School's Young Writers Week, and delivered several writing workshops to high school students.

A book reading to a small but appreciative audience at Chermside library, Brisbane
I also had the pleasure doing book signings in various book stores around the state. perhaps the best fun was at Angus and Robertson's Bookstore, Tamorth NSW during the Country Music Festival - competing with a street full of buskers!
